Ferry boost for church

The King Harry Ferry’s charity of the year is £2,000 better off thanks to the generosity of its foot passengers.
The money was collected during 2011 and has been presented to the St Just in Roseland Church for its roof appeal.
The 13th century church, based on the edge of the river Fal, is aiming to raise £350,000 to replace 35,000 roof tiles, to protect the church from the Cornish weather.
Tim Light, King Harry Ferry’s managing director, said: “Every year we choose a charity or appeal that is both local and relevant to our service or has had an influence on one of our staff.
“During 2011 we decided to support our near neighbour of St Just in Roseland Church and help to raise funds for the vital work to repair its roof.
“Foot passengers can travel on the King Harry Ferry for free – all we ask is that, if they are able, they make a donation of any size to the chosen charity.
“It’s really pleasing that we raised so much in support of such a great cause.”
Each slate costs £10 so the donation from the King Harry Ferry’s team will help to buy 200 replacement tiles.
Rev Ken Boullier, from St Just in Roseland Church, said: “We’re extremely grateful that the King Harry Ferry’s foot passengers have been so generous over the past 12 months.”
